Energy Safe Victoria is responsible for ensuring that all new and existing gas installations are safe and meet requirements as stated in applicable Acts and Regulations.
Complex gas installations by licensed gasfitters must lodge an ‘Application for Acceptance’ with Energy Safe Victoria via Gas Trac prior to commencing work.
Standard gas installations by licensed gasfitters must lodge a ‘Compliance Certificate’ with the VBA 360 portal within five days of completing the installation.
Standard or Complex Installation?
The number of storeys above ground is a deciding factor as to whether the installation is a ‘Standard’ installation or a ‘Complex’ installation. Note that the ground floor of any building is the 1st storey of that building and all subsequent floors above ground are measured from the ground floor.
For further information on classes of building and whether a standard or complex installation applies, refer to Gas Information Sheet No. 33 Gas Installation Notification.
