When a fire safety matter (eg fire hose reel, fire hydrant) does not meet the minimum requirements of the BCA, the consent of the Chief Fire Officer must be obtained before a Building Permit is issued.
The Chief Officer is not obliged to consent to the 309 application, with each assessed on its merits, and consideration given to any affect on the operational requirements of the relevant emergency service(s).
