Recently the Victorian Government committed $600 million to fix buildings with combustible cladding.
Following the Federal Government’s rejection to contribute to the fund, it is now proposed that developers will fund $300 million of the funds via increased building permit levies, whilst taxpayers will fund the remaining $300 million over five years.
The grant, overseen by the new ‘Cladding Safety Victoria’ team, will go towards cladding rectification works on buildings found to have high-risk cladding, ensuring they are safe and compliant.
