Effective 1 May 2017 changes to termite protection (AS3600.1 2014) requirements to new constructions will apply and replace previous editions.
The most important change is the use of chemical hand spraying treatment which will not be permitted beneath concrete slabs. This is applicable to partial or full under slab treatments and external perimeter edge treatments where a concrete path or paving is to be installed.
Accordingly, installation of physical (non-chemical) barriers will be required. These can consist of :
- concrete slabs
- sheet materials
- woven stainless steel mesh
- graded stone particles
