Previously, only building practitioners were subject to VBA site inspections, although from 4th July 2016, the law has changed enabling owner-builder projects to be subject to the same scrutiny.
VBA performance auditors will proactively audit onsite building work, together with all documentation associated with the site, including the building contract, building permit and insurance policies.
Accordingly, it is of upmost importance to ensure that all works are carried out in compliance with the Act, the Regulations and the Building Permit and all documentation is in place.
